[dsn_klr650] kenda k270's
I only got around 2500 from my OEM's. I went ahead and replaced front and
rear with Dunlop D604's. They are 80% on road and 20% off road. They are
more expensive that the 270's, but in a curve @ ~60 mph, it is nice to know
you have good rubber under you. My theory is if you are on the highway - NO
cheap helmets or tires!

i have k270's. i would recommend them for dirt riding. i would not recommend
them too much for pavement riding. the knobs are pretty flexible. i have
about 1800 miles on them now, and they're just now not squirming like crazy
anymore. i don't think they're dangerous or anything, but they sure aren't
confidence inspiring on pavement when new. i will probably just cough up a
couple extra bucks and get mt21's next time. i'm told they are not
squirrelly on the pavement, and are probably better in dirt, tho they may
not last as long.
of course, if you can ride 1500 miles or so on the kendas to wear them in,
you'll probably still have plenty of life left in them. one thing i like
alot about them is the 3.25" front. a pig like my klr needs big shoes.
another possible cheap choice would be kings. skip and molly have posted
some experience about them to this list, pretty much positive as i recall.
they seem to be fairly aggressive tread, but not squirmy.

dual-star stuff
Dear Group,
For what it's worth to those of you that may be interested, I contacted
Dual-Star about the mirrors they offer. If you are not familiar with Dual
Star, find them at www.dual-star.com. The mirrors mount low and directly on
the handlebars and are convex. I'm interested in a pair cause I just ain't
wild about the "look" stock mirrors however I don't expect these mirrors
will have the rear view the stock ones do. They will pass vehicle
inspection laws in NC so thats about all I'm worried about. I tend to just
turn and look behind me if I'm that concerned about things behind me.
Anyway, Dual-Star advises that they are making some improvements to the
mirrors and the new design should be avalible in about 4-6 weeks. Anybody
tried these mirrors ??? .....steve
