nklr got my baby(a1) back

Picked up my bike from St Pete Kawasaki after work today. The welder did excellent work patching the case and drain plug housing. They paid for the bike to be fixed even though "my mechanics have years of experience and couldn't do something like that." The monkeys managed to swipe another washer from my drain plug and swap it with a plastic one. I didn't want to deal with them any more and have two plugs ordered from Fred. Just very happy to have my bike back. They also took the time to cover every inch of the bike with greasy fingerprints . And didn't take the time to run a file over the drain hole after tapping it out. These guys are true professionals. Although I will have to thank Dan sales guy/acting mgr for being calm and very helpful. Mike "happy guy" Awesome A1KLR650 put put put put put

handlebars and other parts

Post by Chuck B » Fri Aug 11, 2000 7:27 am

Hi All, Glad to find this group, I have a '92 KLR50 that I put down pretty hard in the dirt quite a while ago (when I didn't have enough money to put it back together)- anyway I need new handlebars, and I think I have to straighten out the triple clamp or forks, tires are about shot, probably ready for a new chain and sprockets etc. My first concern is the handlebars. I saw a post on the dualsport.org page that has a nice matrix of compatible HB's but cannot seem to find it again. I wan't something stronger than original and I don't want to have to recable if possible. Recommendations? I ride mostly on street, but we have seen some pretty normal enduro type trail riding as well. I am a 6'7" tall so reaching the bars or the ground for that matter is no problem (that's one of the reasons I bought the beast - it's tall) Also I am interested in exhaust modifications and the respective carb jetting etc. Just point me to the posts if I am asking about an over stated topic - I will be searching the messages and collecting good information over the weekend as I get time. Thanks in advance, Chuck
