Thanks for the nice report. I am always interested in 2-up camping on a bike. My son and I like to camp but "overload" is always a serious problem. But it can be done. Practice makes perfect. Knot

Hey Fred, My 2-up camping is on my slug BMW (with progressive fork springs). The real problem is not packing carefully and taking too much stuff. On the other bike - XR650L, 2-up is not comfortable, nor is it equipped with luggage. Your resent visitor, Mr. Russell Fisher of the UK had a really nice set-up for solo cross-country travel on his XR-L. And since this is the KLR list my observations about the KLR vs. XR-L is that the Honda has real brakes and suspension and the KLR has a big fuel tank ;~). well, good luck. i hope the welding work didn't warp anything. did they disassemble the engine before welding on it? passing a high freq arc through your engine can raise hell with bearings, gears,etc,etc. i'm not trying to rain on your parade, but you should be very conscious of bearing noise and soforth until you put a few miles on the machine. later, jim james in s.c. ----------
