As said, Vary your speeds if can, don't lug it, don't high rpm it. If so desire, wait till after 3 or so thousand miles before using syn. oil. I went to Mobile 1 15W50 at 1200 miles, but that's me and I don't use excessive oil and now at 5000 plus. Did the same thing on a '95 BMW R11GSA at 3000 and ran that dude 50K miles in 3 years without any oil usage to get excited about. Put my '97 R11R on the same diet at 4000 miles. No problems yet at 11K miles. Main thing I did was to take every bolt / screw that may vibrate off and use either blue loctite or silicone seal on it. Depended which was the closest at hand. I remembered loosing too many such items on my '92 KLR. The only one I forgot to do was the exhaust pipe shield and I lost one of those. Well DuH! ha ha ha Go enjoy that scoot and have fun.
