[dsn_klr650] ?'s for the klr 250 riders (yes, we exist ....)

Hello-I was at my friendly neighborhood Kawasaki dealer looking for a KLR 650-he had a 2000 but someone had put a deposit on it. I also spied a KTM 640 and was able to take a ride on it. Is anyone out there familiar with the KTM 640 and how it compares to the KLR (besides costing a fair amount more)?

I think you're right if you look state-side. You may have more luck abroad since in Europe as I recall there were tons of small displacement dual-sports on the road. I looked into a smaller bike for my girlfriend a while back and determined that the XT 225 has a decent following I guess due to the electric start. I also remember seeing more than a few folks on this list with KLR 250's so if you find anything you may end up helping a bunch of folks out. Anyone on the other side of the pond able to provide more insight than I? I'd be interested in knowing exactly how many KLR 250's are out there? Cheaper, more jumpable/flickable, toss it over your shoulder when you are ready to go home, throw on some big honkin' knobbies... hmmmmmmm Good Luck! Jim Jackson II A13 - South Carolina
