klr fuel tank

Post by johnsilv@enoreo.on.ca » Sun Jul 30, 2000 11:27 am

Hello all, Before I ask my KLR question, I want to say thank you to those of you who responded to my request for information for my Vermont trip. The emails were very helpful. Now my question: Has anyone out there actually measured the fuel tank volume of the KLR? I ask this because whenever I fill up after switching to reserve, I am unable to get more than 18 litres into the tank. It is supposed to be a 23 L tank with 3 L of reserve. Does this mean I actually have 5 L of reserve fuel, or does it mean that the tank doesn't really hold 23 L? John in Toronto, A11

spaghetti shifter

Hi List, well add my A12 to the list of broken shifters, took me by surprise as I guess I didn't think it would be a problem unless you had bent the shifter and had to bend it back maybe once or twice. I should have clued in earlier in the day when I had hit neutral on 2 occasions between gears. It became apparent when I was shifting into 4th gear and my knee almost hit my chin (well ok,slight exageration). Well after this point I was only allowed a handful of shifts before it completely turned to limp spaghetti. It's hard to look cool riding home stuck in second gear, got pulled over by the police-I was riding in the bicycle lane.He was sympathetic and I was almost home by this point.Well I just had to tell someone, thanks for listening and check your shifter before you go for a ride.......cosmo
