Who makes it? I've been using chain wax for the last 2500 miles...and sold on it over chain lube for o-rings, less mess & seems to stick well. Scott A14 "thunderdog"

Hmmm, I've got Fluid Film but would never use it on a chain, since I take my bike offroad - its way too sticky ie attracts dirt. I don't even use it as a general lubricant (try Optipro) but its good for some situations where you need a tenacious product - used it on a friend's power window gears the other day. For chains, I would stick to the products designed for them, chain wax if you're off-road, and the stickiest tar you want to use if you stay on-road; myself, I'm doin' the WD40 thing this time round with my DID X-ring. Anybody got updates on their 'WD40-only' chains? Rich InWoods13@... wrote:

To WD or not to WD? Being a beemer rider with shift drives for many years and a newbie to the chain gang of KLR riding, I am new to this lubing your chain function. When I have mentioned just using WD40 - only, many of my riding buddies say that is not enough. They say that WD40 is just good for cleaning the chain, as well as soaking it in kerosene. So, I have gone to using chainwax. How can WD40 only work? After reading your explanation, I also realize it makes a difference in what to use depending on your road vs.offroad use and trail dust vs. road grim. Which is another newbie for me to be using a bike more for offroad now. Thanks for the continuing education I get off of reading these messages. I have learned a lot about the KLR from the vast knowledge of listers. David W. Moulder (a.k.a. BB) TNBMWRIDER@...
