nklr - smoked an f650
On my commute to work this evening a guy rolls up next to me at the
stoplight on his new F650 (with the high front fender, you know - the one
that's trying to be a KLR?). I give him a "what's up" nod and I guess he
took it to mean let's race. He proceeded to rev his engine until the light
was about to change to green. I figured ,what the hell, and at the last
second dropped it into gear and took off....
After all that revving, he friggin' stalled at the light!!!
I felt bad laughing but I laughed out loud for about a block and a half
anyway.
He's probably going to take it in to the shop tomorrow to see what the
problem with the engine is. And they'll probably charge him a coupla hundred
to tell him they think it might be that he was running too lean!

Don't feel bad laughing. Was he wearing all brand new DS clothing and a shiny helmet? I laugh at him too ! You have proved something we all know deep down inside.. It's the rider, not the bike... '87-'95 (some '96's) besides cosmetics the only person who really knows any differences is Elden Carl...no reason to avoid an '88 just make sure it has had good maintenance...
