Hi Mark! Congrads on the new KLR...you are gonna love it! I have an A14 and just got back from a tour of New England on it. I drove the wife and daughters up to Newport,RI from Dallas, TX and we trailered her Buell and my KLR. I then rode from Newport up to the Cape all the way to Provincetown via the backroads and then back to Newport via the freeway the same day. Although it was just a road trip the bike handled it well and though not as comfy as the Connie I would take it anywhere on the planet and not regret it (as long as I have my Aerostich Darien!) BTW I flew back to Dallas for 2 weeks of work and then I fly back up to New England for another week of vacation. I did manage to sneak in a 500 mile round trip of the Texas Hill country Friday and Sat morning.........there are some GREAT roads down around Kerville, Medina, Leaky and Bandera! Anyways I am going to try to ride the KLR up to Maine and hop the ferry to Nova Scotia while up there!! Anyways just wanted to say say hi to a fellow JARHEAD and KLR'er!!!!! The basics of biking include cornering, accelleration and maneuverablity, as well as versatility, and when you get into the bigger scoots you loose a lot of that. Mark, Quaker Steak & Lube is a wing joint in Sharon PA. It would be a bit out of your way. It is most fun on Wednesday evenings in the summer. When we rode up from PGH last year there were 2,500 bikes jammed in the parking lot. They have parking marshalls and one holds a counter. All are there for wings, beer, and conversation. Every make and model is represented. The rat class Harleys are my favorite. I was the only KLR on the night we made it. I may try to make it the last week of July.
