Does this mean, that if you use slime, that you have to buy new tubes every time you purchase new tires? If so, then what about the tubes that are being sold pre-slimed? Sounds like we could use know how from the insiders, cuz I personally never thought of that aspect. If we can't reuse slimed tubes, then we should not purchase pre-slimed tubes unless we are purchasing a tire as well. Plus, the cost of tires just went up for those of us that do use the slime. Anyone know where to get the nitty gritty answers to this intriguing question? Jim Sherlock

Hi jim The "Great Slime Debate" has raged over several lists off and on for some time, and there seems to be confusion whenever it comes up. Jeff mentioned don't use it as a "balancer" I agree completely but others claim it works well as a balancer. In fact it was originally sold as a balancer and a bike mag did a test on it about 1988. I feel like a moron but I can't remember there conclusions in detail. Probably something like "It doesn't seem to do any harm". I use it as an extra margin of safety item, flats can be a major downer (pun intended). Along the same line of thinking I always replace my tubes when installing new tires so the issue of old Slime is not a problem. I did mess up a tire gauge the first time I used it but I was able to clean it and it works ok now. Ed Windsor Oh

i put it in my tires recently, and they seem to run perfectly smoothly even at 65-70 mph. they're cheap kendas, so it seems unlikely they came perfectly balanced out of the box. whether or not they're balanced correctly, if i can't tell, why should i care?? i do check tire pressure, and put air in only with the valve somewhere besides the bottom. learned that from working on bicycles for many years. i never put slime in my own bike tires, since i can change a flat mtb tire in around 2 minutes (including pumping it to 40 psi) on the trail, but lotsa customers used it. mw p.s. maybe i'm insensitive to balance issues. when i put the gp110 on before driving to moab, i didn't bother balancing it or putting slime in. i just rode it there and back, and it seemed perfectly smooth to me too.
