Does anyone remember the tubular Grill style head lamp protector that used to
be offered for the KLR. I think it attached through the fairing, around the
headlamp. I think it was from the late 80's to the middle 90's. I also think
the mfg. was Lochart Phillips, but I am not positive. Anyway, if anyone
remembers those, have you seen one in your local shop lately? Know of any
place where I might get one? Does anyone have one that they don't want, and
are willing to sell?
Thanks,
Jim Sherlock

nklr: headlamp tubular grill
Jim,
Are you talking about a grill that just covers the headlamp, or
something with more protection around the light like the ones I've
seen on some older Beemer GS models? If you're just looking for a
grill to protect the headlamp, try your local auto parts store. They
sell square grills for car/truck headlamps in either chrome or
black. A pair is probably worth 10 bucks or less.
Seems to me someone mentioned this a couple of weeks back and that
they were easy to mount, with a little modification. The ones I used
to have on my old Ranger could be easily flipped up so you could
clean the headlight if req'd. I'd planned on doing this mod the
other day, but forgot to pick up the parts when I was down getting
stuff for my car.
Cheers,
D.

Same experience here. Checked 7 auto parts stores one afternoon (including NAPA). Nobody had any clue what I was tlaking about. Seems like I did see this produuct in the new Aerostich catalog. Mike> and > > > >asked, they looked at me like I was on drugs or something. > > >
