Welcome to the world of the KiLleR Marty. Tim and Driveline are one and the same...http://www.happy-trail.com He's also got a link to Givi on his page I think. Arne's also got 'em at http://www.mac-d.com Don't know Jesse and don't know the URL for touratech. From what I've seen (no personal experience yet) Arne's and Tim's are similar and both beat the snot outta Givi for rigidity. Hope this helps a little. dat brooklyn bum _______________________________________________________ Get 100% FREE Internet Access powered by Excite Visit http://freelane.excite.com/freeisp

[dsn_klr650] side luggage racks?

Post by Weaver, Mark » Thu Jun 15, 2000 11:13 am

hi marty. i got tim barnard's nw racks (www.happy-trail.com) a couple months ago, with mounts for givi boxes (you can also mount other brands of bags/boxes on them). i'm pretty stoked on them. they fit, they're sturdy, they look great, and they hold the bags really well. i was surprised i didn't see more of them at the moab rally, but maybe they're too new? tons of people asked me about them and seemed pretty impressed by the fit and finish. good luck. feel free to email me offline with any specific questions you might have about the racks. -mark weaver p.s. welcome to the list, don't post any sophisticated computer humor. this list isn't ready for it yet. -----Original Message----- From: martynet@... Had two BMW F650's - the KLR is much more fun - and actually faster on many stretches of road, plus it fits me much better. Can't understand why I waited so long..... Need some help, though.... Been sorting through the archives and FAQ's, but can't find lots of specifics on getting rigid side racks. Would love some advice from seasoned KLR owners. I'm hearing that racks (and/or bags) can come from: Jesse, Touratech, "Driveline", Givi, "Tim" and other places. I can't find most of these on the web sites for these folks, and I can't find things like "Tim's". I've tried Kaw factory soft bags. I've tried Ortliebs (can't figure how to attach them properly). Really need some side rack support. I need a side rack similar to Givi, Touratech, Hepco-Becker, etc. I'd like to avoid the weight and expense of Jesses. Therefore would like to find racks that can hold soft luggage, or ones that I can rig fiberglass/plastic bags to. Can I seek your guidance? What are specific part numbers, web locations, addresses, etc. Off line response ok too, to save bandwith. Apologies if this has been re-hashed too many times, but I really did spend more than an hour with the FAQ's/archives. On the Ortliebs you take the two straps across or underneath the seat...then the long rearmost side straps come up and around the fender just under the tailight, the other frontmost straps attach to the racks or the rear footpegs...
