daily report

Hi Listers, Well, I've had a ball playing with my little A13 today. I am going slower than expected, but I'm savoring the experience. Although, my sissy, office worker, engineer hands are just not as tough as they were when I was a VW mechanic in the 70's. I've checked the valves and found all to be OK. I had a hard time getting the valve cover off, but after copious swearing and shouting, it surrendered. I'll post the clearance data later. The carb is off and I've done the airbox mods illustrated on Mark's page. Man that screen was tough to remove! I couldn't get the last bits out, so I just bent them up against the inside of the airbox. Any ideas on how to get the remaining screen remnants out? The Supertrapp instructions say to reuse the original connector pipe gasket. Yeah, right! I will try to reuse it, but it got pretty well mangled when I took it out of the OEM pipe. I wish I had a new one. Carb mods and reassembly are scheduled for tomorrow AM. I'm gonna go with the Dyno-jet 150 main. I note that Mark's carb mod page suggests a 160 main, but the 150's the biggest I have. Time for a triple S. Later all, Jim
