[dsn_klr650] nklr-helping hands
After I finished and took a break, I noticed I couldn't feel the ice cold glass of water in my right hand, my right hand couldn't feel my left hand. I couldn't feel anything. My hands were dead! After a while the feeling started coming back, but the rest of the afternoon I was aware that my paws were pooped - no grip. Hmmmm....reminds me of the Summer of '93. I was riding around in British Columbia on my K-bike, and while up on Quadra Island riding down a hard packed dirt road which was conveniently covered with two-inch sized rocks spaced about three per square foot I began to notice my throttle hand going dead. After spending another few days there trying to ride with a dead right hand, I headed home, and my whole arm began to go dead. Upon returning home, it didn't clear up, and I noticed that every time I did something like lean out the car window to spit (sorry, but I had to!) the deadness inched further up my arm. After a while (about two months) both arms had gone dead. I assure you this was not a fun thing. It became difficult to ride the bike, and it was almost impossible to get my fingers into my pockets for wallet or money, and really difficult to tie shoes, or any other function you might use your hands for. The first neurosurgeon I consulted took an MRI, and in his office afterward, showed it to me and told me, "If I were you, son, I'd go home and not get out of my chair, it's only a matter of time and you will be a quadraplegic". This wasn't good news. Two neurosurgeons later, a confident mid-50's gentleman who obviously deserved to be referred to as "Doctor" told me, "I can help you. But you've got to check into the hospital tomorrow morning, for an operation. I'm going to cut into your neck and saw out the rear facets of five of your six neck vertebrae. Go home, don't eat or drink Anything , and be at the hospital at 9 a.m.". I went. No coffee, no water, no nuthin. Finally they put me under, and I was Grouchy! Well, when I woke up, my neck hurt like a mo&@rf%#$r but my hands worked again. Pinched nerve in the neck. Where they cut into my neck hurt real bad for three years, and still hurts a little every day. I gave up skiing, since it was too expensive anyway, but I wasn't about to give up bikes! At that point I learned that the headrests in the Mercedes Benz are the best, and don't drive anything else if I use a car. I still have one f##ck-in-A impressive scar on my neck, and will show it off to anyone interested while in Moab in June. Ciao. or..Chow. BBQ Bill KLR R1100Rs Jack Russell Terrier Chiwoggle

You might want to research the wrist stretches used in Aikido and other marital
arts. Check online or at your favorite local bookstore.

dyno run pics
Attachments :Hi Guys,
I got the scans of the dyno run graphs down to a manageable size for e-mail.
Thanks for the earlier input on file types, etc.
Even though they don't really speak "Dirt", the guys a Motorcycles Int'l in
Fayetteville, AR were very helpful and cooperative. They have a nice web
site, www.motorcyclesintl.com. Hmmm, a Triumph Dual Sport bike, very
interesting. I sat on one in their dealership, but resisted the offer of a
test ride. I must admit that even though I love the KLR650, Triumph Sprint
885 did look pretty cool. I was surprised, but these aren't the Brit Bikes
of yesteryear.
Anyway, enjoy the graphical info, and send me some feedback. These data are
similar to the Steve Johnston KLR650 info on the Thumper Page. Check it
out.
