Technically, it is a no-no, but in my experience on cars and bikes, I say "don't worry about it". I haven't yet had a brake problem that could be attributed to mixing different DOT3 and DOT4 spec or different brands. Mister_T

Transalp Rally folks may recall the Canadians. They drove their TA down from Canada to north GA. They then realized..........they forgot the KEYS! Also, going up and down the mountains caused problems with gas vapors released into the cabin when changing altitude. Oh, brake fluid. There is a DOT 5.1 (or 5.2, 5.3???) that is the same goop as the other non-silicone fluids. Dot 5 is silicone, do not mix Dot 5 with anything and a complete cleaning out of the old fluid is required to eliminate contamination. Just my two bits, but it aint worth the hassle to me. Plus if you need more fluid in an emergency, you may have difficulty finding the stuff at any gas station like you would with 3 or 4 or 5.? High school friend was given some sage advice by his father one night....."Doooooon't mix Tommy, NEVER mix!".........Southern Comfort, JD, and various types of beer made Tom a woozy boy!
