klr: handlebars and lowered front end.
Greetings Borg,
I just got back from a two-day cage trip to my soon-to-be new home (College
Park, Maryland). I don't think I've ever been so frustrated in a cage in all
my life. That traffic is gonna take some gettin' used to, but I think I'll be
happy there eventually. Anyway, I have two KLR questions I've been pondering
recently:
Does anyone know of any inexpensive aftermarket handlebars for the KLR that
are not as wide as the stockers (maybe 3 inches less)? If I can't find any
that I can afford, I think I'm gonna cut about an inch off of each side of my
stock bars.
Also, I am wondering if it would be possible to lower the front end of the
KLR at least an inch. I know this might sound silly to some of you, but I'm
just wanting to see what position fits me best. I know that getting Elden
Carl's fork caps/extensions are supposed to lower the front (somehow). Does
anyone know by how much? Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance,

This will be my first Moab Dual Sport Rally although I first rode in the Moab area more than thirty years ago. Based on several months on this list, I expect to meet a truly interesting cross section of humanity -- perhaps a more diversified group than one would find in any other motorized sport. I'm sure your Triumph Tiger will be welcome and an object of interest. Not all bikes will be KLR650s. I know one person who plans to attend on a KTM. There are trails there where your Tiger will be at home and trails where you probably shouldn't go. But, that can be said of most of us, regardless of what we ride. I can assure you, though: Triumphs were riding trails around Moab long before your Tiger twitched it's tail. I personally hope a lot of interesting bikes show up. As for details, a good start is here: http://www.angelfire.com/ut/moab/rally.html Verle Nelson Cedaredge, CO> Hello everyone, I'm a newbie on the KLR list.
