Tim (www.happy-trail.com ) and Arne (www.mac-d.com ) both specialize in building racks. They are sturdy, dependable and built with customer satisfaction assured. Take a look at both web sites and toss a coin, either way you'll get a great rack. Tim's racks are designed to have "bolt-up" for GIVI luggage, Somsonite Cooler Luggage, and the new Ortlieb Clip-on soft luggage. I need to have Arne talk about luggage for his racks as I'm not so up to speed on it. Both sets of racks are designed to accommodate additional fixed luggage like aluminum and Pelicans. So, the good news is you can't go wrong in any direction, the bad news is that it is like all of life you've got choices to make... Kurt Simpson Salt Lake City> myself buying soft luggage. Depending upon the size of the pelicain you want we have a quick release
system for them. The luggage selection is one of the most diffuclt. For
commuting around town the GIVI has proven great for me.
Happy trails

Well... I for one used to be a hard bag believer, but have chosen to liberate myself and my KLR from hard box bondage. I had Touratech and Givi both on the KLR (not at the same time of course) and found that: A. They stick out far, and weigh too much which cancels out the benefit of having a nice, light narrow machine. B. They allow you to easily overpack. The nice thing about soft bags is they force you to be disciplined in packing. I use a Givi tail trunk and soft bag combo now and I'm real happy with it. If you don't want to go too wide, get the smaller ones. They attach and detach so easily that the top-loading argument is totally defeated... They're very sturdy, water-proof, aerodynamic, and have been known to survive crashes. Cheers, Arne

Sounds good to me. I use Ortliebs and a 48qt Igloo tail trunk plus the tank panniers. Works for me. Alan Henderson A13 Iowa>>> >I use a Givi tail trunk and soft bag combo now and I'm real happy with it. > >Gino >
