A question to the group

I have an ID plate off TC 4686 XPAG 5309 ( the car went to its grave many
years ago ) . The plate is brass and not silvered ,as are many others I have
seen, The lettering is black, same as is the silver ones, I also have the ID
plate off an MGY -Y /3222 which is silver . which is correct?

Re: I D Plates
Sounds like you have enough there to start a couple of restorations!

Re: I D Plates
Ross & Group,
In my opinion the ID or makers plates were made out of brass with a
very thin nickel plating & the lettering is black. In many cases the
thin nickel plating is long gone, but it was there. This also applies
to the patten plate, "Made in England" plate, & the body plate.
I offer a service of restoring the original plates if they are
restorable. Contact me off list if interested.
