digitaldon sez: 7993 useta eat valves all the time, including on his honeymoon eons ago, on the beltway outside Washington, DC. As he writes, there's a piston sittin' on the piano that looks just like Terry Horlick's. In digitaldon's opinion (FWIW, prob'ly not much), this is caused by a combination of 7K rpm's, crap valves, and especially, 150# valve springs. As we know, Harry Pyle advocates the use of Nissan valves; dunno, haven't tried 'em. Doubtless these, or some equivalent, would be helpful, along with (most importantly) 80# progressive rate springs, such as those offered by Brown & Gammons. Doubtlessly also helpful, would be better cams & lifters, such as the design and metallurgically superior ones offered by Crane. Don TC 7993 Grand Island NY USA
