Shock fluid
I have used motorcycle fork oil for many years and it is readily available
in multi viscosities. Some brands also have a seal swelling agent which
 actually helps keep leaks down.

I also use motorcycle fork oil. I find #20 weight gives good results.

Shock fluid
What type of fluid should be used in Armstrong or Girling shocks on a
T series car? I know Moss and the others sell Armstrong Shock Fluid
but is there a suitable readily available hydraulic oil that is safe
 to use?

Re: Shock fluid
I have no first hand knowledge on this but have heard of others using
motorcycle shock fluid. Available at your local motorcycle dealer and in
various weights. I have no idea what original TC fluid weight was used but
guess you could play around and fine tune the ride if you wanted.

Re: Shock fluid
I use motorcycle fork oil in all my M.G.s. It comes in various weights. I
find 20 wt. works well without being too stiff. The principle advantage of
motorcycle fork oil is that it contains a seal sweller that reduces leakage.
I first started using it in the leaky front shocks of my 66 MGB GT back in
1981. They are still on the car and haven't leaked in years.

Re: Shock fluid

 concept, David!

Brian:
I use 20W motorcycle fork oil, usually available at any motorcycle shop.
Works just fine. If you want a stiffer ride usr 30W.

Re: Shock fluid
Motorcycle shock oil works fine as sill most 20W shock oils. Just make sure whatever you use has anti-foaming agents in it.
