brake fluid .. dot 3 ?

Post by Barnaby Robson » Wed May 07, 2003 2:05 pm

Hey People Sorry for another dumb question ... Why does it say DOT 3 only on the rear brake fluid reservoir cap ? The place where I got it said that they put DOT 4 when they built the bike but the manual says don't mix and match fluids .... Looks like I am going to have to do a brake fluid change .... dontcha think ? barnaby [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

need help identifying keihin carburetors.

Greetings all, I am not a motorcycle expert in anyway, my baby is a four cylinder triumph spitfire convertible. The hottest thing right now is mounting motorcycle carburetors, specifically four Keihins on the 1500 engine. One company in California is selling such a kit for $1,150.00, which is much more than I can afford. Please see PRI's web page for a better look. http://www.prirace.com/special_engine.htm I'm trying to replicate what this company is selling for my spitfire for substantially less money. To date I have purchased a set of Keihin Carburetors off ebay (see picture here) http://www.geocities.com/eseymour/1500/newcarbs.jpg I will have to fabricate an intake manifold, and rebuild these carburetors. The kid I purchased them from said they came in a box of parts that he purchased. He thought that they were off a ninja, but was not sure. Identifying marks In the front of the carbs, under the air filter is what looks like a mode number stamped into a flat. The number is: 20ABBC1 The first B is in a box, the 1 on the end could be a stick-figure of a person. All four carburetors have this number stamped on them. The side of the carb has a large VG. Does anyone know where these are from? I would like to know so I can purchase four rebuild kits (one for each carb), and a Haynes manual for the details of how to rebuild and adjust these little babies. Regards, Ed Seymour. Eseymour@...
