it's about 185mm center to center, thats a little more than 7-1/4 (7-
9/32). Kawasaki is all over the place with their tollerances.

I really noticed it, especiallywhen leaned over hard on cracked/uneven asphalt. Less benefit if you ride mostly dirt. But I cosider it an excellentinvestment on both my KLRs. fork braces
Well, I can say my Superbrace (2 pieces, not three) do just fine. The ones
that use bolts to hold a connector plate between them, like on ebay, well, I
would prefer not having bolts - 2 casting shells that mate makes more sense
to me.

I broke a Telefix brace pretty quickly offroad (probably when I dropped the bike)... It's fairly sleek and probably one of the lightest, but only good for the street. Krokko -- Dr. J. Regardless of what kind of spring you have in your forks, cause they
do something totally different, a fork brace will help keep the 2
fork tubes in line with each other much better while twisting the
bars to countersteer into a turn. The harder, faster, and more
abrubtly that you do that, the longer the lag time will be from when
you iniate the turn till the bike actually turns without the brace
on. When I put a brace on I had to readjust my turn entry point
because the difference was so great while at speed in the twisties.
There is also some benefits while off road too, but that is
contraversial. All I really care about is the fast on road
improvement of the brace.
Of course putting one on also adds sprung weight to the front end
too, which is not a good thing, so I got the lightest brace that I
could find.

fork braces
has anyone tried the dual-star fork brace?
it's nice looking. is it as good as the sturdier looking versions?
i have found with other bikes a substantial improvement with a fork brace. not riding on off road tires on the street ever, i notices the extra flexing not sure if it's the forks-bike-tires-all of above. nothing over dramatic just being observant and sensitive to all sounds and feelings about the bike (2006 with 3000 miles on original tires stainture exhaust ,progressive shock((i believe to lower it))
but no other modifications to carbs or any maintenance or performance enhancements.

Call Fred @ Arrowhead Motorsports, he'll fix you up with one. I have one. What I like about it is that it's adjustable. Other fork braces assume all forks are the same. Note that a fork brace is no panacea. I've ridden my bike with and without one and frankly can't really tell a difference, other than maybe it being a tiny bit quicker to turn into a corner. _E> the site including pics or prices..?

I also have the K9 fork brace.
From my experience, it seems to keep the bike a little more stable on particularly rough turns. It holds a line better in real bumpy curves. l had previous bikes that would get pretty jumpy under the same circumstances without the fork brace.
