just bought a 1997 klr 650
I bought a pair of used Givi cases on e-bay pretty reasonably as backup for
my VStrom. I'm just in the process of buying a universal Givi mount - I
believe they're $39 at happy-trail.com. I will be able to use the Givi's on
either bike.

I really like that design, but I haven't been able to find someone to cut them for me yet, and I've been looking for a little while in my free time. None of the lumber stores will cut lumber/synthetic lumber lengthwise and I don't have a saw that can do those bevel cuts). Plus I'm not -entirely- sure I could freehand those long edgewise drill holes for the retaining pins with a hand drill, at least probably not as nicely as I'd like them done (a la drill press). If anyone ever makes some of these and can make a few extra sets for me, I'd gladly pay some reasonable compensation!> --- In DSN_KLR650@yahoogroups.com, Neil Doane wrote: > > > > > > Anyone know if there is such a thing as a generic top case mounting > system? > > What I'm looking for is something that will allow me to essentially > have > > some baseplate and a number of mounting brackets that I can attach > to > > various boxes or baskets that I want to carry on the rear rack (and > easily > > exchange.) > > > > Does anyone make something like that commercially? > > > > > > > > > > Neil > > > Off the top of my head I can say I've seen anything like that, but if > you look up Old Rice's website he has a very nice homemade set-up for > mounting a Doscosil (similar to a Pelican) box.
