generic top case mounting system?

hi everybody,ive just bought a kawasaki klr 650,it rides like a dream,i would like to get a top box for it, any ideas anybody about the best one to buy,do i need special brackets ect,also i would like to purchase a workshop manual,wheres the best place to try? thanks. dave.

I've got the JC Whitney top box shown in the link below. Installation was simple, the only thing I added were large washers to get a better bite on the mounting. It's been off roading with me a few times and held up fine. But I suggest you consider the Clymer manual instead of the two factory manuals which are the basic manual and then a supplement. The factory manuals require you to flip back and forth between manuals to dig out the latest and correct information. The Clymer manual is one book and easy to use. It also costs about 1/2 of the factory manuals. If I was buying a Clymer's today I'd probably go to www.amazon.com and get it from them. And I'd check for the free shipping on orders over $25. If I didn't qualify for free shipping I'd add a DeLorme Atlas and Gazetteer for my local riding area. Cost for that will be about $14 which is usually a savings of about $6 and tax if you bought it locally. I bought a pair of used Givi cases on e-bay pretty reasonably as backup for my VStrom. I'm just in the process of buying a universal Givi mount - I believe they're $39 at happy-trail.com. I will be able to use the Givi's on either bike.
