klr stock fork "twist" solution.... try it out?

Post by Mike T » Wed Dec 17, 2003 11:18 am

Excuse me for interrupting, but when I used Torrington (top and bottom) on my fork springs, it was in attempt to reduce stiction, as the seal and bushing options were not readily available. Oh, cartridge options were not available. The bike, 1976 (!!!) Bultaco. When? In 1977. Trolling? My a$$. Stiction helps in our love lives, but not in our suspension. Like putting Vaginal lubes in my fork oil would not help as well. Geeeeeez. Mike T A16 Las Vegas -----Original Message----- From: judjonzz@... Yes, knowing full well at the time that it might be snake oil. Siemen says that a carefully massaged set of race forks might include fork spring bearings, but that any effect would be too subtle to be noticed by the hamfisted KLR rider. Sounds about right, kind of like homeopathy ("natrum muriaticum", indeed.) Hey, they're in there, and you don't hear me complaining about my forks, do you?

Well, excuse me, too, but I'm having a hard time picturing how that might work. Of course, I had a hard time picturing how they might reduce spring twist, too, if in fact there were such a thing, but I wen ahead and bought a pair anyway, and they turned out not to look at all like I had imagined. Well, I sez to meself, Roland is a good guy, may spacers are a little short, and if nothing else, they'll make a good conversation piece. But as they say, "out of sight, out of mind". Not surprisingly, no one was commenting on them, since they are inside the forks, and I forgot all about them myself for about a year, until they came up in the current thread. So now I say, milk it for all it's worth, and I'll get my money's worth in amusement. But I won't mention them when I run down my list of mods. No point in bringing down unnecessary ridicule upon oneself.

I have a new Arai Dualsport helmet for sale on Ebay. I bought it new but never wore it, long story. They no longer make these but you can still get parts. Press on the button to view my other items for sale and you will see some Aerostich boots and pants as well. Thanks, Randy
