Eh, ride it, it'll be fine. I just discovered yesterday that in the past 500 miles I've burned about 1.5-2qts of oil in my beater A12X. Ran great with only ~.5qt in there! Sounds like my next project, due for a valve adjustment check anyway, thanks
for the info.

Could not tell any difference at all after removing the KACR from my KLR at
79,000 miles. I used the Dremel cut off wheel. Removed the cam from the
motor to keep grinding material out.

Yup, that KACR is coming off this weekend, what better way to spend an
afternoon with a full belly of turkey.
Thanks for the info,

Actually, this is one of the cases where general info for the KLR doesn't exactly apply to the KLX. From what I've read on the Thumpertalk.com site, the KACR is a known POS on the smaller KLX bikes. Might be on the KLX650 also. Apparently as recently as last years' KLX300 the KACR is indexed wrong on the cam and it doesn't work. Will you let us know how the job went & what you went through? Are you
planning to just disable it with the spring or do major surgery?

I'll let the group know how it goes, plan to take the cam out, cut off the
wimpy looking rivet and toss the KACR in the round file, where it belongs. I
have ridden this bike over 800 miles in a day, twice, don't want to risk major
engine failure on something as small as a rivet. Just my .02 worth.

Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release
This device helps the engine start by holding open one exhaust valve at very
low rpms. You will hear a clatter in the head if you run your engine slower
than the recommended idle speed. This is this mechanism trying to hold open
an exhaust valve and will kick off once the rpms come up to idle or above.

Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release. Believed to be an artifact
from (pre 96?) earlier KLR's that had a kick start. Doesn't seem to
have a purpose on non kick bikes.
