Listers, I think the same or similar info was posted in 2008. Below is the original post pulled from my files. This info is for battery condition and not charging system condition. Of course you can't check a charging system if the battery isn't fully charged and in good condition. Seems to fit with our current (and perennial) discussion of batteries and charging systems. You do need a digital voltmeter, the readings are at 70 degrees F and are for lead-acid batteries. You want to wait about 15 minutes or more after charging the battery or running the bike to allow the "surface charge" to disappate. I put this table on a little card and keep it with the VOM. Is it ok to leave a bike on a motorcycle jack for long periods of time? Wondering if it may warp or put undue stress on anything. Crash

Ok cool thanks. Thought it was a silly question but figured better to ask. Just got a jack this week and plan to take off the back tire and swing arm to lube the pivots and install new links. I will only have time to work a bit on the weekends over the winter. Crash
