Trial Selections... QUALITY
The QUALITY selection consists of a mixture of 12 wines from:
Kurt Hain (Mosel)
2003 Piesporter Domherr Spätlese Trocken
2003 Piesporter Goldtröpchen Spätlese
2003 Piesporter Goldtröpchen Auslese
The Mosel wines are characterised by the slate and flint soils in which they grow.
These wines are usually very pale with a slight emerald tinge.
The northerly lattitude of the Mosel allows the grapes to produce
more acid & hence carry more fruit flavous without the wine becoming unbalanced.
Kees-Kieren (Mosel)
2003 Erdener Treppchen Kabinett*
2003 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese*
2003 Kestener Paulinshofberg Spätlese*
Messmer (Pfalz)
1998 Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) Sekt brut
2003 Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) Kabinett Trocken
2003 Muskateller Kabinett Trocken
The Pfalz is Germanys largest wine producing region.
In the south where Weingut Messmer is situated, the soils are predominantly
chalk based giving fresher, intense wines.
Karlsmühle (Ruwer)
1997 Kaseler Kehrnagel Auslese Goldkapsel
1999 Lorenzhofer Auslese Goldkapsel
2001 Kaseler Kehrnagel Spätlese
The Geiben family have been growing vines here since Napoleonic times. Their main vinyard is the
Lorenzhofer but in 1994 Peter Geiben inherited the Kaseler Nies'chen and Kehrnagel vinyards
from Patheiger. These vinyards wines are still sold under the original Patheiger label.
