Roger and Chip have a good point.
As one of the newer members, I would indeed appreciate the opportunity to query the list for items that I will need as I resurrect my TC. But it makes sense that these aren't items readily available from one of the T-series supply houses.

Also, If someone has a surplus item then it would also be appreciated to know of its availability.

But if no one on the list has shown interest in an item, such as the Laystall head Roger mentioned, then maybe it would be fair game to utilize eBay if the seller needed to move the item quickly, etc.

Members that have many T-ABC series items for sale could perhaps put a notice to the membership that a list is available and those interested could contact the seller directly.

And for members that aren't interested in these emails, we can help them out by listing in the email subject area "TC part for sale" or TC part wanted", etc, then it is easy to delete without opening.

But at any rate, we are all at different stages in this hobby and hopefully the list members can appreciate the diverse needs of the group.

Thanks for your consideration-

Well put Chip! Some while back I mentioned an UNUSED ORIGINAL LAYSTALL HEAD
which an elderly gent here in England wishes to dispose of. He bought it for
his 1500 TF (which he still has) but never fitted. There was a distinct lack
of interest, but was this because nobody wanted it (at half the price of a
new repro item), or because it was not thought the "done thing" to advertise
on the list?

Some of the newer members especially might be desparately seeking an item
that others of us have surplus to requirements. I have already told young
Awini in Delhi that I may be able to help him (if you recall- he is lacking
the complete front axle assembly).

One method of selling items to MGers is to subscribe to
autojumble@autox.team.net which is strictly for selling items of Brit car
interest. You can then Bcc any other list that you wish to communicate with
offering your items.

I would suggest that under the democratic principles of civilized
behaviour the vast majority of the subscribers to this excellent site
(mg-tabc) feel that anyone with useful goodies to sell, exchange, or
give away should be free to do so through this medium.
As already indicated I strongly agree.

When I was at school many many years ago I recall a song that went
something like this,..."If I can help somebody as I go on my way my
living would not be in vain'. OK thats how I feel about any help that I
or others can give to fellow hobbyists who need a widget that can't be
found through retail channels or may be a few bucks less from a
colleague.
So lets stop all this holier than though stuff about the sanctity of the
site and behave like normal owners who are happy to help out a friend
with a decent spare or used widget that we no longer need!

Regards Geoff

I really like the idea of being able to buy and sell spares for my TC
through this list. Some parts are no longer available new, (or they are
very expensive new). I have been lucky enough to find several rare parts
on this list. If the list was based on MGBs, or some other high volume
produced car, there may be some fear that the list would be taken over by
commercial interests. I don't think that will happen to us. And after
all, if it becomes a problem, we can deal with it. Until then, I see it
as a great benefit.

I would like to be able to inquire to the list as to who may (on the list)
have a certain part that I may need, or to be able to offer a spare to
another member on the list. Our situation is quite unique, in that some parts
are very hard to find on the open market, and because of this fact, anything
that would make our task easier should be encouraged. Anyway, this is how I
feel.
