My Story

Post by peter_clegg@telus.net » Sun Apr 30, 2000 12:35 pm

While serving in the Air Force as a Flight Cadet in Summerside, PEI,
I
saw my first TC. It was BRG with green leather, owned by my flying
instructor, and a case of love at first sight. Several years later,
at
the age of 20, while stationed in Montreal, I was able to acquire a
BRG with green leather, TC with only 6000 miles in exchange for my
Austin Atlantic as the owners had a new baby and wanted a larger car.
The car was driven to Edmonton when the air force felt I was of more
use there, and back to Summerside to take an advanced flying course
and then back to Edmonton. In 1952 we got married and the car took us
to the church and on our honneymoon to Rivers Manitoba where my
presence was requested to take the jump course the week after the
wedding. Frances, a public health nurse, used the car for her visits
and was always popular at the local high schools. Unfortunately the
winters in Edmonton get cold and the new bride requested a car with
roll up windows and a heater so Emma was traded for a Morris Oxford.
After the children were more or less on their own it was my turn
again
for toys. In 1978, after looking in vain for a TC, I cam across a TF
needing a frame up restoration. That accomplished a TC was still
desired and Emma Mk 2 finaly appeared in Victoria, having been in dry
storage for 20 years, during the summer of 1998.
She has had a full frame up restoration and is now in BRG with green
leather. A beauty to behold and at 72 I hope to enjoy her as long as
I
have enjoyed the TF.
She has Model A 475/19 tires so if anyone has the original Dunlap,
made in England.450/19 tires I would be interested.
