first time out

Post by William Hoak » Fri Apr 28, 2000 3:05 pm

got a td in 1953..choice between children and car took care of td.
in 1962 business associates in england found my tc and shipped it
over to fresno, calif where i was living at the time. have been driving it
ever since and the car(and me/wife) loves it here in cambria on hiway
one..big sur. i am now 74 and will admit car in better shape than i!
so far do not need big rock to pound me into driver position.
as far as knock off hubs go..look in moss magazine..iron bar about
two long that fit right over the ears. you can pound on it without
harm..or i found even better..just stand on same and the cap comes right
off.
greetings to all.

For what its worth I have found that the iron bar from Moss to
remove...you know what...cuts into the lugs after a couple of times . I
use the tried and faithful soft mallet. It works every time.
Good advise from Carl and others, always
oil the threads every time you remove the wheel..a simple comment but I
have seen wheels that you could soak in oil for a week and still find
that they won't budge

Regards Geoff
