TC tranny mount

Post by Jeff Fields » Mon Apr 10, 2000 10:03 am

I am and have been in theprocess of restoring TC 9976........a '49 EXU
model. I hjave 2 bumper but only 2 orverriders. The XPAG engine ID 10639
matches that stamped on the car ID plate.

So much for the good news....now the bad........

The lower left transmission has just broken. The proper fix is to replace
the rear plate, correct? Are they available? Will someone part woith a
spare? Please indicate if yours has been repaired. Include the estimated
shipping cost in your price.

Jeff,

Why not just remove the plate and have it rewelded? It's a simple and common fix - and one I found had been done on mine when I bought my car.

Jeff

I'm sure that the aluminium backplate will prove to be available in the
US, but if it doesn't, call up:

Sportsparts
Phone 61-2-9875-1144
Fax 61-2-9875-1906

here in Sydney. They have new backplates at A$191.30, which is about
US$114 at the current rate of exchange.

On the good side I have read (and I believe it) that the plate normally
only breaks as a result of a collision - when the chassis stops but the
engine/gearbox keeps going. Certainly I had had such an accident a while
before I found the broken plate.

Good luck - unfortunately I'm nowhere near the stage where I have to
consider how to mount the gearbox!
