Kevlar Brake linings

Post by CFritz7001@aol.com » Fri Apr 07, 2000 8:22 am

Have any of you had any experience using Kevlar brake linings? They are
reputed to be "kinder" to brake drums, and to offer superior stopping as
compared with the old style linings. I am particulary interested in the
"kinder" aspect, as a way to minimize wear on the Alfin brake drums on my TC.
Any comments will be most appreciated. If you suggest an alternative to
Kevlar, please be as specific as possible, and identify a source or sources.
Thanks in advance,
Carl Fritz

Carl:
I got an e-mail last week from Bob Grunau indicating that he is experimenting
with a soft bonded lining to be used with alfin drums. I'm sure he will e-mail
the list with the results. Ri8ght now I am using Abingdon Spares linings which
seem to be fairly soft.
