T-ABC car badges

Post by FDShade@aol.com » Mon Feb 14, 2000 11:17 pm

Sixty members have now pledged to purchase the http://mg-tabc.org/logot.htm">T-ABC car badge designed by Austin
Baer which can be seen at http://mg-tabc.org/logot.htm ("Austin's 28th draft")
Austin will now try to locate a manufacturer that will produce these badges
at a cost of $30 or less. If you want a badge and have not yet ordered one,
or if you ordered one and did not receive confirmation of your order, please
let me know as soon as possible.

T-ABC car badges

Post by FDShade@aol.com » Mon Jan 03, 2011 12:50 pm

Apparently our badge vendor is now selling T-ABC car badges.

Several weeks ago we ordered 50 T-ABC badges from Ron Hazelhurst

We paid him $315 for new dies (previous dies had been destroyed)

The badges arrived with bolts glued to the back of the badges, instead of
nuts silver soldered to the back (as on the originals badges)

see photos -> _http://tinyurl.com/38bg2ay_ (http://tinyurl.com/38bg2ay)

We have no idea if the glued bolts will survive vibration and/or climate
changes, so we refused to accept the order.

PS Mr. Hazelhurst has declined to refund the $315 the club paid him for
the dies.

Jim,

As long as I've been a member I'm ashamed to say I've never contributed monetarily to the website...other than buying badges a long time ago. Is there a way to contribute via PayPal.

Dear Jim:
Truly sorry to hear about this situation.
Would Hazelhurst consider retro fitting the soldered nuts? Where are they
located. Could not find them on ebay as a badge supplier
Probably a stupid question! We at least can avoid buying these if they
come up on ebay.
Tally Ho!

Jim,

Sorry to hear this although not surprised.

When I was serving as President of the Arizona MG T Roadrunners, I was sourcing a new run of our badge. I had a very bad experience with Hazelhurst. To sum it up, his lack of proper communication with me led to his "ransoming" my sample badge and incurring an expense that was his fault.

I can recommend our supplier for T-ABC badges should you wish their name.

That said, as much as I like and appreciate the List, I refuse to do any business with Hazelhurst directly or indirectly. But, let me know when the List has badges made by someone other than Hazelhurst. I will take one and display it proudly.

Octagonally,

Jim are you saying that the badge vender is selling TABC badges to others than the Group? If so than that is not right

T-ABC Car Badges

Post by FDShade@aol.com » Mon Jan 03, 2011 9:32 pm

Several weeks ago we ordered fifty T-ABC car badges from Ron Hazelhurst,
and him paid $315 for the dies.

The badges came without mounting nuts silver soldered to the back of the
badge.

Mr Hazelhurst then glued some bolts to the back of the badge, see ->
_http://tinyurl.com/289qtkh_ (http://tinyurl.com/289qtkh)

We declined to accept these badges, and asked that he refund the $315.

We did agree that he could sell the badges if he refunded the $315 (He has
not done so)
In which case we would first notify T-ABC member regarding the potential
problem with the mounting bolts.

Apparently Mr Hazelhurst has decided to go ahead and sell the badges. He
has emailed one member that
" I AM SELLING BADGES DIRECT TO MEMBERS WITH THE APPROVAL OF JIM AND
WALTER"

That is not true. We have not authorized him to sell T-ABC badges.

If you decide to buy one of these badges, you should be aware that they
have no mounting nuts silver soldered to the back as do the originals, but
have bolts glued to the back.

These badges were not accepted as we do not know if the glue will hold up
under vibration and climate changes.

PS We are considering negotiations with a different vendor

Jim: Thanks for being a patient leader through this mini-mess. As someone else mentioned/asked, since we pay no dues or fees for this fine site, is there some way we can support you so that you are not out of pocket? Dick Warren
