I personally feel that posting parts on eBay is a bit of a tease and
frustrating nuisance. Why not simply advertise with an appropriate price and
let it go at that? (getting into a bidding war with other club members
doesnt seem to serve anyone but the greedy).

some times it's not an item that is owned by the poster, it's just passing
along information !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Respectfully disagree. I have not heard of anyone's frustration regarding my
eBay listings and as I start with very reasonable opening prices, many
bidders have recieved some great bargains. Don't forget the Delete key!

Mark, Who cares! If someone wants to buy they can if not they don't have
to bid!
This web site is worthy of better comments than the current ongoing
never ending point less discussion on the values of commercial
advertising. If we want to keep our readers lets talk about MG's.

Well, look. My point is that auctions by nature dont lend themselves to
standard business practices. Ever go to an auction with a specific item in
mind, wait all day for it to come up, only to have it sell for far above
what everyone knows it was worth, only because of a bidding war? Ever drive
several hours to look at an MG, offer his full asking price, only to have
the seller say "well, I'm gathering offers, and Ill let you know in a couple
of weeks if someone offers more". Kills the fun, doesnt it? Anyway, it does
for me, and thats my own opinion. Which everyone is entitled. This is
supposed to a hobby, after all.

Hi,
I am afraid that this is referred to as a "market economy".
The seller wants the maximum return, and the buyer wants the lowest price.
When the buyers' lust to win the auction takes over, it is called "deeply
stupid".

Greetings,
Regarding the L-140 headlights advertised on E-bay, would these be
correct for an early '46 TC? Mine is without the correct lights and I would
really like to have the right ones on the car(in case Viv ever visits me).
Thanks,
Bruce Woodson

Headlamps

Post by Donald M. Lawson » Sun Jan 30, 2000 12:27 pm

I just finished restoring a set of Tripods for my TC. I carefully broke the
original glass out of the bucket from the back of the lamp. That is,
through the hole for the bulb. I then dissasembled the unit and
chrome-plated the reflector. I chose chrome because it doesnt tarnish. I
then took the bits of glass I had removed from the reflector to a local
glass shop and had a set made. The dimensions of the new glass was smaller
than original so after reassembly of the unit I could just clear silicom
the new glass in. I covered the black dot in the center of the tribar with
a Moss Motors set of earings with the ring cut off and they look great as
well as throwing a lot more light!
