1935 MG K3/KN

Post by Lindsey Parsons » Mon Sep 26, 2005 4:06 pm

TC'ers,

This a bit off subject but I thought some might be interested in photos
of the beautiful 1935 MG K3 modification assembled and owned by Chris
Leydon of Lahaska, Pennsylvania. I participated in this year's Colorado
Grand in my 1952 Allard J2X earlier this month and one of the most
interesting and beautiful cars also participating in grand manor in the
event was Chris's wonderful MG. Coming up upon it on a long, steep
Colorado mountain pass and hearing it's sweet, supercharged song at
nearly full chat was indeed a real thrill. With 75 cars entered worth in
total something in excess of 25 million dollars, none had more charm or
pure oily British charisma than this splendid machine.

Wow, what a gorgeous car.

Lindsey, was the car they smashed in the 1953 film "Genevieve" a 1952
Allard J2X? The main character had a Daraque with a broken fan belt
so he had a passer-by in a red car tow him. They then smashed the
Daraque into the rear of the sports car. This was an actual accident
which happened during filming which they just inserted into the film.

Interestingly a similar conversion car (K3/NK) is for sale here in the
states. Now if I only had the $120,000 asking price...
