Stuck tranny and a question

One time I was using 3rd gear as a brake going down a mountain side and it jumped out of gear. Then it would not go back in 3rd part of the time. I took the shifter off and looked at things but saw nothing. Put it back together and bought some Red Line synthetic from Skip Kelsey and everything has been fine since. I also went to Red Line in the diff. Now, can anyone tell me about the top hinge on passenger side of my TC. The two inside screws that hold the hinge to the car body are loose. They won't tighten nor will they thread out. What arrangement is inside the trim panel. I hate to take the paneling off if I don't have to. Thanks to all.
