How does one go about getting the correct piping for the TC's if the color
required is not in the catalogs? In example, Clipper Blue? Can anycolor
piping be sucessfully painted? Thanks, Tom, TC2850 disassembled

Hi Tom,
The pipeing are not painted! You are killing the beauty of the coach
work.
I trial mounted mudguards etc before painting. The painter want the car to
be complete to correct the shape and curves what the coach worker was not
able to do. After putty work and first coat painting the mudguard bonnet
door etc are dismantled and then the painter will do the final coat of
paint. The pipeing will come before the final assembly.
You may use black or some other colour to match the paint. I do not know
what colour of piping they used for Clipper blue paint. You can stitch your
pipeing with Rexene. This is only my personal view.
Best regards
Madhu

The US-based Volkswagen parts house "BUGPAC" has a line of solid vinyl
piping in a vriety of colorrs. I like it because it IS solid, so cannot
absorb water, and the color goes all the way through, so won't wear
off/through. It's also quite inexpensive!!!
