Subject: Re: MOT for UK tabc owners
They are computerizing everything over here in the UK,
using security as a pretext. The idea is that
automatic number plate recognition cameras will be
able to check if you have tax, MOT or insurance, and
send a summons within minutes; and all without human
intervention!
Does anyone else see any 1984 here?
I think the MOT Inspection itself is a good idea and as far as I knew when we lived in Surrey, required, before buying road Tax disc. Without current Tax disc, one is still subject to citation, aren't they? Or are trailer Queens exempt?

Yes Sally we must have both insurance and MOT before
we can have the priviledge of obtaining a tax disk
(which is free pre 1973). What they are trying to
bring in now is a requirement for all vehicles,
whether on the shed or in boxes, to be permanently
registered. Of course this will be at a small cost at
first but we all know that this will rise once they
have got us used to it. Yet more taxation... and huge
fines if we forget.
