AW: [mg-tabc] electric fuel pumps (on TC's)
Hi Rick,
I'm 60+ and never went to dentist for last 40 years except few
times for cleaning and polishing. Got still all my original second set of
teeth what God gave me. It is still in good shape with out any damage. May
be because I am from the healthy but poor third world.
With the Lucas electric is very similar. First of all you had to have luck,
then you had to do some maintenance and service to keep them healthy. But
certain things like aging/wear you are helpless. But regular maintenance can
save a lot of headache and prolong the life.
By the way I was not able to overhaul the TC 0448 SU pump yet. Borrowed one
from David Tasa for trial start of engine.
Have a nice day.
Madhu

You know, I get tired of hearing about things like SU pumps failing so often
that you need a second pump hidden away somewhere.
My SU has never failed in the 18 years I've driven the car. In addition, the
Regulator/cut out has not malfunctioned, and neither has the ignition
system. I've not had a generator failure, but I will admit that after
rebuilding the XPAG, the old starter gave up the ghost.
Are the circa 1940s English auto electrics so bad? My experience has been
quite positive.
