I was not there but my Mother-in-law rec'd a trust fund on her mother's
death which was in the sum of 4 per week and was seen to be a comfortable
living, allowance. . .the year 1949. Which backtracking to the 30s would
make an automobile at 222 quite a luxury. The Tickford bodies version was
269.50 in 1939.
The price of the TC 375 in 1945. Considering wartime inflation etc. An
excellent deal for returning American's and thus we have the majority of the
10001 vehicles in the USA. The price as sold in the USA in 1949 was $2395.
My husband and I married with a wage of $200 per month in 1952 and had we
not been employed by the dealers could not have afforded an automobile at
all. And new a TD that year was $2145.
That same lady rec'd a widow's pension of 23 per month when her husband
died in 1971.
