Does ReLead Smell?

Post by B.A. Pockets Knipe » Mon Mar 07, 2005 7:59 pm

I think I screwed up. In preparation for a 100-mile road trip, I used Relead for the first time. I mistakenly put ten gallons of 93- octane gas in my MG-TC mixed with an ounce of ReLead. The car seems to be running hot and it really reeks of a nauseating paint thinner type smell. Does Relead cause a smell? Or maybe, high-octane gas causes the car to run hot and I melted some of my one-year-old paint job? Or worse, because of my recent "recharging" problems and my "work about" wiring of a real "#$%&ed" up electric system, I melted some of the old wires (shellac smell)? The question that can be answered is whether Relead causes a smell? Should I dump the 93-octane gas? Thanks Feeling Like a Village Idiot

1. I've used re-lead fairly frequently (long trips) and I've never noticed any smell, and no one else has mentioned anything. 2. 93 Octane gas should not make your engine run hotter, nor should it cause a smell. If you've raised your compression ratio at all, either by boring the engine or planing the head, 93 is appropriate gasoline. -Rick "B.A. Pockets Knipe" knipebs@hotmail.com> wrote: I think I screwed up. I have used the Red Line Lead Substitute for a long time in both my XK120 and the TC. I have not noticed any unusual smell other than a little burnt oil smell which both cars had prior. I use high octane gasoline in the Jag because it has 8:1 compression. Not in the TC -----Original Message----- From: B.A. Pockets Knipe [mailto:knipebs@hotmail.com] Sent: Monday, March 07, 2005 7:56 PM To: mg-tabc@yahoogroups.com Subject: [mg-tabc] Does ReLead Smell?
