XPAG on engine stand
I want to bolt my engine to a stand.
Are the 4 bell housing bolts and the tapped holes in the block strong enough?
It doesn't look much . I need to avoid any use of the holes in the alloy sump, as I will need to rotate the engine, and remove it.
Any advice welcome.

block is a problem as it limits the bolts that can be used but I've done it before
with good bolts and some steel short strips to line things up. I think it's
actually a bit safer than it looks ! I'll let you know if it isn't !!

The 1mm thread is no problem, It's standard Metric Fine thread. Easily available, bur not with BSF/Whit heads of course.Clive

Use quality hardware and try to get the bolt as deep into the hole as possible without bottoming. In my opinion, all of the bolts should go into the block, never into the sump.

Standard Metric Fine is generally what people call 1.25mm. I think the threads in question are 8 x 1.00. Not standard, but often can be found.Duncan-

For what it's worth I found it easiest to remove the head studs and put engine on the bench with sump uppermost
