Propshaft length

Post by CRAIG SILER » Fri Jan 04, 2019 6:53 am

While we're on the subject of propshafts, does anyone know the correct length of the driveshaft assembly as measured from flange to flange?  I would like to determine if the unit that is on my '47 TC project car is correct per original.

Thanks, Craig Siler

Hi Craig, I think I said when I started this thread the shaft on my TB is about 44inches depending where the front sliding yoke is positioned.  On balancing could someone confirm which parts of the shaft should be balanced? Also my TA shaft (same length) has original balance weights still attached so is there any point in getting it rebalanced? Attachments :Jeff, the shaft should be balanced fully assembled with all parts and flanges as typically shown on this diagram assembled, and with grease nipples fitted and new needle bearings and cups installed. Attachments : Thanks Clive. That s exactly what I wanted to know. Just got to find a firm to do the balancing, after changing bearings and a new cork seal in the front yoke fixing screw cup.  Regards  Jeff  TB OWNERS JOIN US AT TB80 IN MAY NEAR OXFORD TO CELEBRATE YOUR CARS 80TH BIRTHDAY.
