Pressure Plate & Clutch disc ?

Post by Barry Cook » Sat Oct 20, 2018 2:27 pm

Thanks ALL for your advice on the roller vs. carbon release bearing.  Obviously with the info provided, I will stick with a original carbon replacement.

NOW, next question - pressure plate and the clutch disc.  I was told in the past when changing out the clutch disc, change the pressure plate also.
However, if the pressure plate's face is smooth and shows no scoring at all, would that also be a waste of money replacing it???  I guess the only other
issue going wrong with a pressure plate could be the springs getting weaker?  If so, what would be the best way to test their strength?
Many Thanks,
Barry Cook

Barry, I would suggest that with the amount if work needed to get to the clutch all 3 pieces are replaced.
