Non MG ... and I've said it before ..

I love living here ... it's a beautiful day, I'm messing about with me TC, and so far today there have been a few  taking the Tiger Moth Experience,  Spitfire, Harvard, DC3 and just now a Catalina fly right over the top of my humble abode!   
When I've got 1700.00 burning a hole in me pocket, one of the 'treats' at the IWM Duxford is a half hour flight in the Harvard with a Spitfire for company.

I have been in a B 24 & B 17 and a B 25  which tour the USA by the Collings Foundation , about 400 dollars for 40 minutes , what a thrill. By they way today they announced the Memphis Belle  ( 1st Bomber to survive 25 missions over Europe ) has been restored to Static condition and also there is a B 17 which had been mounted over a gas Joe. Does a flying B29 exist? There is another group that tours the country and has been yearly to New Jersey. They have a flying B25 and a flying P51 Mustang 2 seater trainer.  Sent from my iPhone

I can't help but chime in... the Collings Foundation B24, B25, B17 and a P51 happen to be in Monterey today. I think they're up to Mountain View tomorrow. The approximately $400 you pay for a ride only covers the gas. A deal of a lifetime in my humble.The significant other and I took in a sunset ride over the Queen Mary in the Collings' Nine-0-Nine B17 about 18 years ago. The 24 was along side for part of the flight. Stunning. She who must be obeyed is ahead of me, having flown in a Tiger Moth, B17, B29 (Fifi) and a C45 (twin Beech model 18). The 29 is a different animal than the others. Exponentially more complicated and expensive. It takes about as long to get her fired up and taxied into place as it does for the flight. (Longer if anything goes wrong, which evidently is quite common) None of this burbling along at 120 knots or so as they will overheat the engines. When they are flying, they are going!
