Sheet metal repair

I am currently working on the rear fender of TC 9864. It looks to have been crushed in the middle at one time and beat back into shape, somewhat. I have made templates of the good fender and compared to the repaired one and the difference is stark. Would the TD fender have the same curves ? I was thinking that I could stitch in the the center section from a TD to my TC. Thoughts?

Mike,  Forget the TD fender.   Save it for someone else that needs one. A good metal fabricator should be able to repair your fender quite easily, especially having another one to match.   I am not an expert by any means, but with a rounded hammer, soft pillow, metal cutting shears, and a mig welder, repairs to many fenders have been done with decent results... The "crushed rear fender syndrome" is hugely common. When they changed the Road Traffic Act, two rear lights were required, which made the number plate/tail/stop light combination on the TC illegal overnight! Enter the celebrated Brit bodger who grabbed the first two available rear lights. Problem: the centre crease on the TC fender when the replacement lights required a flat surface. Solution: BFH! You do not say what side the rear fender is. I have a right rear that has been bashed a bit but a good metalworker I believe could set it straight. It is pretty good from the front to say just past the hi point on top. From there the damage is mostly on the outside half to the tip.  The strip just on the inside of the whee lwell needs replacing but again a good body man should handle this. I was able to get a replacement so this came off my car originally Any intrest  get in touch.

When they changed the Road Traffic Act, two rear lights were required, which made the number plate/tail/stop light combination on the TC illegal overnight!
