I am working myself to installing one of the above to replace an early Moss kit . I see that both Moss and Brown & Gammons supply the above . Is there a difference ? Which one is best

Re: TC Crank rear oil seal
Richard, I can’t answer your question but if you go for the Moss item get the seal centred on the crank boss then tighten the clamp. Don’t do as the instructions say about pushing the seal all the way in as it can leak. Some cranks have a short boss and if the seal is pushed all the way in it isn’t running on the boss. I also ignored the instructions and soaked the seal in very hot water and pushed it on the sleeve backwards then fitted the sleeve to the crank and left 0.060” clearance between the lip of the sleeve and the crank. You can see this on my blog http://www.lotus7news.co.uk/moss_seal_mods.htm I don’t think you need to cut the groove in the flywheel, just me being over-cautious.
