Car identification plates

I attach a photo of the plates on TC2456.  Do they look original? I ask because on p131 of TCs Forever there is a photo of a set of id plates that are fitted with round head slotted screws, and mine are riveted on. The old girl was originally sold in South Africa, hence the Made in England plate. Just a thought that occurred to me while I rewired the dashboard on this chilly afternoon. Thanks, Roger

    Car Identification Plates

Many thanks to everyone who replied so promptly to my request for information on this topic. So, to report back: so far I have established that the guarantee/makers plate I have is a repro which does not match any of the (so far) 3 different types fitted to TCs. Doug Pelton shows 2 of them and has sent me a photo of the 3rd. Odd that in the short production of the TC it was necessary to fit 3 different plates.  The repro pattern I have fitted has been available for at least 40 years.  I have a photo of an unused matching plate that was purchased in South Africa in 1980. They appear to be a pastiche incorporating features from all 3 original plates. All I have to do now is find out when and why mine was replaced.  Now, that will be harder!
