TB's in 2019

Post by jeffrey townsend » Tue Oct 10, 2017 9:42 am

Hi to all TB owners It has been proposed to hold some sort of event in 2019 to commemorate the 80th birthday of the TB, could any TB owner interested please contact either   Jeff Townsend on              jeff.townsend@hotmail.co.uk                                   Or Mike Inglehearn on           mingle54@btinternet.com   Perhaps you could also express your opinion / suggestions as to what type of event you would prefer it should be such as         A stand alone event for the TB         Tagged on to another  T Type event         Tagged on to some other event         A one day event         A weekend event         Any other suggestions   Some ideas of other events might be a Shuttleworth collection flying day, a wings and wheels event, a 40s weekend event, a classic car event or perhaps you can suggest some other event. Once we have an idea of interest and the sort of event that would be preferred, we will look at what can be put together and if necessary what accommodation would be available for anyone wanting or needing it. Offers of assistance would also be appreciated. Regards  Jeff TB 0489 & Mike TB 0457

I think that would be interesting and I would be "game" depending on location. It makes sense to have it be a T-type event to have a larger group of attenders. TB only could be thinly attended.  Sent from my iPhone

Anybody ever hear of the NEMGT Register? How about asking them to do a GOF featuring the TB. Location is always an issue.Mike Leckstein Sent from my iPhone

Does the NEMGTR hold events in England or France?  I think that s where Jeff and Mike (who are organizing) are located. Gene GillamSaucier, MS

We should take part with pleasure to a TB event if it is neither too long nor too expensive.
As you know, 1 day in England is 3 days for us from SW France + ferries so 2 days in England is the maximum we go to.
Why should we (well, you, then) go to America to celebrate an English car ?

It could be we meet on the first  morning, then a day rally or ballade of the cars followed by a dinner but not a grand one with ballroom and all this
The second day could be mixed or part of something bigger during the warm season, such as MGCC Silverstone or Beaulieu autojumble
and at 5.00 pm or so we leave for the ferry. South of England preferred.

If you fear not enough TBs, why not make it an the XPAG 80th birthday festival ? A great engine. Then you can add TC, TD and TF and we should be aplenty (although there is no doubt the TB is best, of course!!!!)

hi Jeff - sounds like a good idea, although the big event to tag onto would be MGCC Silverstone (or wherever the club might have moved to). We could arrange for a section of the Register parking area to be TB only. Other Registers have organised runs into Silverstone, often from several starting points, but perhaps one would be enough due to lower numbers. I could join in with TC0978, which has a cylinder head with casting date of May 1939, but I do have a TB chassis in the barn (available to anyone who wants to build a car for the event...) ocTagonally Roger

It would be wonderful to be able to ship my car to the UK. I was last at Silverstone many years ago!  Unfortunately probably not in the cards for me- so perhaps we can organize one in the states too.   Sent from my iPhone

Jeff is in the UK and I am in France so the event would be in the UK, depending when it was held, some people might take the opportunity to ship their cars over for a longer period and tour other events in the UK /Europe, but it may also encourage something to be organised in the USA or other far off countries, if anyone wishes to do so let us know and we can forward details of interest in their country to them.RegardsMikeTB0457 From: "Victor Savelli vic.savelli@sbcglobal.net [mg-tabc]" mg-tabc-noreply@yahoogroups.com> To: Roger Furneaux roger.46tc@gmail.com> Cc: jeffrey townsend jeff.townsend@hotmail.co.uk>; "mg-tabc@yahoogroups.com" mg-tabc@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Wednesday, 11 October 2017, 2:31 Subject: Re: [mg-tabc] TB's in 2019   It would be wonderful to be able to ship my car to the UK.
